Welcome to Get Off My Back Sanctuary, a place of healing for hearts and horses. We are home to 10 rescued horses and two senior donkeys, each given a permanent place of safety, love, and lifelong care. The sanctuary is stewarded by a husband-and-wife team, with the husband being a retired military veteran who honorably served for 28 years.
At the heart of our work is Barn Buddies, our faith-based children’s ministry that creates meaningful connections between animals and children in a nurturing barn environment which is offered completely free of charge to participating families.
Through guided Barn Buddies sessions, we encourage character-building values, foster gratitude, and help children build confidence as they interact with animals. Our one-hour sessions may include feeding the goats, holding a bunny, or working hands-on with a horse, providing a peaceful opportunity to unplug, slow down, and find rest at the barn. Each session concludes at our thankful/prayer tree, where children are invited to share and reflect on what they are grateful for.

At Get Off My Back Sanctuary, we envision a future where every horse entrusted to our care lives out their days in safety, dignity, and peace, and every child who visits our barn experiences healing, hope, and a sense of belonging. As we grow, our focus remains on expanding the sanctuary in thoughtful, sustainable ways that prioritize animal welfare, meaningful ministry, and responsible stewardship.
Donor support allows us to increase our capacity to rescue and retire senior and at-risk horses, improve shelters and fencing, and ensure consistent access to veterinary care, farrier services, quality feed, and supplements. Your generosity also helps strengthen Barn Buddies, our free children’s ministry, by supporting safe facilities, program supplies, and supervised, hands-on experiences that nurture character, confidence, and compassion.
